ISSUE 04 · 8 SEP 2026 · FIRST PUBLISHED ON LINKEDIN
Most outbound advice on LinkedIn is pure theory.
Over the last few months at JumpLead, Chris May and I have built and stress-tested 4 distinct outbound channels: content, LinkedIn DMs, cold email, and cold calling.
Here is the unfiltered data on what converted, what fell flat, and how we run each playbook:
THE NUMBERS
38%
acceptance on connection requests
12+
meetings booked from LinkedIn DMs
6
meetings from cold calling in 3 weeks
5
meetings from cold email in one day, for one client
Full breakdown by channel below
1. Content (The Inbound Engine)
I post 5 mornings a week on LinkedIn.
Since starting JumpLead, that consistency took my following from 3.2k to 7k in under 5 months.
The direct commercial return: 5-6 qualified ICP inbound leads and valuable conversations with founders and revenue leaders.
The indirect return is even bigger: posting daily forces you to stay sharp. It forces you to read, research, and test ideas in public before bringing them to clients and it works hand in hand with sending DM's.
The rule: Provide genuine value, share real lessons from the losses, and cut the generic corporate fluff - Be Authentic and try new things (No one really cares so don't over think it).
2. LinkedIn DMs (Peer-to-Peer Outreach)
Before ramping cold calls, this was our most consistent outbound channel.
Our numbers:
38% connection request acceptance rate
12+ new business meetings booked
2 signed client opportunities
The playbook: Most LinkedIn outreach fails because of the "pitch slap" - connecting and instantly dumping a calendar link.
We take the opposite route. We send a short, peer-to-peer note introducing what our content covers, with zero pitch.
Once accepted, our recent secret weapon is a personalised 1-to-1 voice note. It takes 30-45 seconds, proves you are a real human who looked at their profile, and opens a relaxed dialogue.
3. Cold Email (High-Volume Relevance)
Unlike LinkedIn where platform limits cap you at 100-200 requests a week, cold email allows you to reach 1,000+ targeted accounts a day.
The breakthrough shift: Early on, longer emails outlining our full service got buried. Response rates jumped dramatically the moment we stripped the copy down under 60 words. Just yesterday, that exact structure booked 5 new business meetings from cold email alone for one of our clients.
When an email reads like a sales deck, prospects delete it to protect their calendar. When it is 3-4 lines highlighting one specific operational headache and asking a simple question, they reply.
The operational foundation:
Secondary domains to protect core domain reputation
Mailbox warmup tools
Clean, bounce-verified contact lists
Relevance over forced personalisation (if the insight doesn't tie directly to their headache, leave it out)
4. Cold Calling (The Fastest Feedback Loop)
I had not cold called in nearly 3 years due to a narrow ICP in my previous role.
I picked the phone back up in August using Trellus (YC W22), a parallel dialler - which I absolutely love.
In 3 weeks: 6 solid new business meetings booked.
When dialling, I keep a 4-part framework open on my laptop screen:
The 20-second ask for permission to speak
2-3 specific pain points relevant to their exact role
Diagnostic questions to understand their current setup
Common objection responses
The core mindset:
Do not dial looking for a meeting. Dial to learn about their reality and start a relationship.

The Hardest Part
Consistency....
Most founders prospect when pipeline is dry, then stop the moment client delivery gets busy. Activity drops, the diary empties, and the panic starts again.
At JumpLead, we step in to build and run the entire outbound engine, bringing 35 years of sales expertise so your pipeline keeps moving while you focus on running the business.
If you want an honest review of your outbound setup or your curious as to how we can help you win more clients (consistently), drop me a DM.
See you in 2 weeks.
